The Disney theme parks are known for having amazing theming, which help bring some of the most popular movies to life. With incredible details, guests are transported from Earth directly into the heart of their favorite films, and of course, Star Wars is one of those.

The Disney parks created an entire land to immerse guests into Star Wars, where droids and stormtroopers roam the lands. People have the chance to ride aboard the Millenium Falcon or meet Kylo Ren in what is an amazing place to visit.

However, Disney is already looking to top that by creating a themed Star Wars hotel. That’s right, guests will be able to literally live and breathe the movies during their stay, on property in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel. Here’s what we know about the resort already.

Cruise Experience

Even though this hotel will be very much planted on the ground, Disney is marketing this hotel as a cruise style experience. The ‘ship’ is called the Halcyon, and guests will all arrive and depart at exactly the same time. Once checked in, guests will be boarding a launch pod, which will give the feeling of blasting off in space.

See, this cruise won’t be taking place in the water, it will be in space. Guests will see stars and planets fly past their windows, and the pod will eventually dock at the Halcyon, which is when people will be allowed to go and explore the resort, and other areas of Disney.

Florida Only

While Star Wars rides and themes can be found across all of Disney’s theme parks around the world, the same cannot be said for the upcoming hotel. Even though Disney has its own hotels in all of its locations as well, this particular location will be located in Florida only.

At least, for now, that is. Disney often likes to expand and bring popular ideas to all of its locations, but the current plan is for the hotel to be created in Orlando, Florida. This makes sense in terms of business for Disney though, as Walt Disney World is the most popular of all its locations.

Work Has Begun

That image might just look like a complete and utter mess, but that is actually the location of exactly where the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel will be. As you can see from the image, work has actually begun on the construction process of the hotel as well, which is good news.

Projects like this obviously take some time due to the scale of the build. When you add in the amazing technology that will be on offer, that only extends the length. However, construction is certainly ongoing in Orlando right now as Disney pushes to get this completed as soon as possible.

Opening Date

While construction is currently ongoing for the hotel, Disney hasn’t actually revealed an official opening date for the location yet. Not likely wanting to disappoint anyone who might book a holiday specifically around this hotel, Disney has held back in giving a confirmed date.

However, the opening is expected to take place at some stage in 2021. As that time draws nearer, you can expect more details to be revealed, with Disney building the anticipation and, of course, selling tickets for people to stay on site.

Onboard Activities

Anybody who has ever been on a cruise before will tell you that one of the biggest highlights is the onboard activities. This might be a cruise through the galaxy, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be activities, as Disney has confirmed that there certainly will be.

It seems like they are trying to create a hotel so immersive that you might not even need to go to the theme parks, as a day here will be good enough. One idea that has been revealed is the chance for people to test their skills with the force by wielding a lightsaber to face off with a remote, which could be some form of VR game.

Trip To Batuu

While Disney is creating a true experience for guests within the hotel, that doesn’t mean people are stuck inside it during the experience. All cruises tend to stop off at different destinations during their run, and so does this one, which will be stopping in Batuu.

The excursion takes guests to the Black Spire Outpost, which is the detailed area that Disney created in Hollywood Studios. This area features two rides, the cantina bar, food outlets and meet and greet opportunities with characters as well.

Operating The Ship

Guests onboard this particular ship will have an amazing opportunity to actually try their hand at operating the navigation system for it. Part of the itinerary will allow guests to be in that situation, or control the ships defense system, in what will be a hands-on opportunity.

People will also be allowed to sneak into the engineering room of the ship, getting to engage in secret meetings with spies of the Resistance itself. This will help continue this truly once in a lifetime experience that is going to be amazingly detailed.

No Windows

As we have already mentioned, the idea behind this hotel is that guests will feel like they’re literally traveling through space. That might seem ridiculous when you’re in the middle of Florida, but Disney is going all out here and a part of that is that there will actually be no windows in this hotel.

Well, at least not in the traditional sense. There will be windows in the hotel, but they won’t be providing views of the Florida sunsets. Instead, they will be using technology to show space, stars, and planets in order to really make it seem like you’re on a ship in the air.

Alien Crew

Disney is always known for going the extra mile when it comes to immersing people in an experience, and that’s what is going to happen with this hotel. The Star Wars world is known for having a wild collection of aliens and robots that inhabit the worlds.

Well, that will also be the same in this hotel. Disney has claimed that the crew of this ‘ship’ will be made up of aliens, which will really help immerse guests into believing they have left the swamps of Florida and stepped into a galaxy, far, far away.

Two Nights Only

While people who travel to Florida to experience everything the most magical place on Earth has to offer normally do so for at least a week, you won’t be spending all that time in this hotel. That’s because Disney has announced that the maximum stay for the hotel will be two-nights only.

Clearly, the company is expecting a huge demand for this hotel when it finally opens, and this is a way of ensuring as many people can experience it as possible. While the maximum length may end up extending in the future, for its opening at least, it will be restricted to just two nights.
