Donald Trump asks fans to vote for Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars and, of course, backlash ensues. As some fans thought that the President urging fans to vote for Spicer is not really our nation’s priority.

Spicer, who served as the White House press secretary until his resignation in July of 2017, was a controversial choice for casting in the newest season of Dancing with the Stars. Even with the demand for him to be taken off the show he stayed put - even getting support from co-star Karamo Brown. Though the controversy spread to Brown and he eventually had to delete his Twitter because of the hate posts he received. Even though all of this, Spicer has committed to competing with his dance partner, Lindsay Arnold, even gushing after the first appearance that President Trump tweeted him.

While Donald Trump decided to take a break from tweeting about the Middle East, he turned his concentration to supporting Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars. People reported that the president spoke out about how he would like the fans to vote to go to the former White House Press Secretary. In one of many of Trump’s twitter rants, the 73-year-old said that Spicer was always there for him and a good guy such as him should be supported. The former White House aide made sure to quickly reply to Trump thanking him for the encouragement and the endorsement. See the President’s tweet below:

Even though now fans have put politics and policies aside, originally when Spicer was announced as a contestant for season 28 there was some major backlash from fans. Spicer had a hard time adjusting to the rigors of the dancing world along with having to juggle the hate mail that he received. The politician openly had said that whether the fans decide to vote for him or not it would not affect his outlook on competing. Spicer’s main goal was to go out and enjoy the once in a lifetime experience. Many Americans found it a bit unnerving that the President of the United States took time away from dealing with allies in trouble to concentrate on a reality dancing show. Viewers all believed that Trump should and must have more important things to concentrate on than a weekly dancing show.

While it may be a bit frightening that Trump took time from the worldly situations, Spicer said he would forever be grateful for his old boss taking interest and backing him. On the most recent week, which was Disney themed, Spicer, danced to a Toy Story song dressed as Woody. It will remai to be seen if the President’s support will have any affect on Spicer staying in the competition.
