Today Sony started rolling the Android 9.0 Pie update for Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact with build number 52.0.A.3.27. The update is currently rolling via OTA and will soon reach to every user with Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact smartphone. With this update, you will enjoy all the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS features. Along with this update, Sony has bumped the security patch level to October 2018. You can now download the firmware from below given link based on the region on your Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact.

With Android 9.0 Pie update, you will get the new gesture-based navigation system and Other features such as New Quick Settings UI design, Redesigned volume slider, Advanced Battery with AI Support, Notch Support, Improved Adaptive Brightness, Manual theme selection, Android Dashboard which Google calls Digital Wellbeing, and more other features. It may take some time to reach every user with Android 8.0 Oreo update. In case if you have not yet received any new update, then we recommend first to check for the new software on your device. Follow the below instructions:

To check for the OTA update make sure you follow this requirement

To receive the update, you must be logged in as the owner, that is, the primary user, to update the device. Now on your phone, make sure you have a stable WiFi or 4G connection to download the software update. Charge your phone to at least 50% battery. Before upgrading, also make sure to take a full backup of your data to avoid any problem in case things go wrong.

  • On your home screen.
  • Tap on Settings.
  • Go to About phone > Software Update.
